Description

"Many STEM courses, particularly those that are introductory in nature, focus primarily on a specific disciplinary concept. This is typically driven by a need to “cover content” to prepare students for the next course in the major sequence. Although “real-life” examples are used frequently with the goal of engaging students in the material, that content applicability is often lacking in the area of cultural relevance. In this session we will discuss how inter-diversities, a term coined by Brian McCormack, enhances student success through the integration of knowledge from divergent disciplines within STEM and the social sciences in the curriculum.
