" Navigating a capstone thesis with multiple departments can be stressful. Academic departments disagree on matters from content to format. For the Interdisciplinary Studies major, the process to complete a thesis is often arduous. Trying to handle a full course load needed for graduation while writing the thesis is difficult. But, what happens when two or more professors dig in their heels and refuse to budge on a matter. Even worse, what happens when these professors refuse to communicate with one another, using the undergraduate student as an intermediary. What about a professor who provides no feedback until the final product and then decides that the paper has issues which will take weeks to resolve? This presentation will focus on two students' travel through the minefields of music/psychology and English/sports management. What happens when the English professor doesn’t know APA formatting yet wants to argue? What happens when the Sports Management professor disappears and can’t be reached? How does one connect music with psychology? Or math with psychology? Each discipline has a specific focus and IDS majors often think outside the box. Is this thinking not rigorous enough for some academic areas? Does that perception add to conflict when completing a thesis? "
