Description
Interdisciplinary studies departments tend to be among those least likely to become isolated silos or contribute to campus climates that lead other departments in that direction. Nonetheless, universities are busy places where unintended tunnel vision and silo-ing remain risks. We will discuss our experience addressing these issues both in our current and previous positions with colleagues to get their perspectives on these issues with the intention of finding out how we can all better encourage interdisciplinarity and achieve an appropriate balance between the generosity and rigor we offer students and colleagues.
